Word on the Go
This week's message: Take Me To The Water
This powerful message takes us on a journey through the profound symbolism of water in Scripture, reminding us that throughout human history, civilization has always followed the flow of rivers. Just as our enslaved ancestors sang coded spirituals about meeting by the water as they sought freedom, we too must recognize our desperate need for living water in our spiritual lives. The sermon draws from John 7:37-38, where Jesus stands up on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles and declares that anyone thirsty should come to Him and drink.
This isn't just about physical thirst—it's about the deep spiritual dehydration many of us experience. We learn that water appears in Scripture even before light, before humanity, highlighting its essential nature to life itself. The message challenges us to recognize that even though we live on a planet that is 70% water, many of us are still spiritually thirsty, wandering in desert places. Through the encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4, we discover that sometimes we come to the water but don't have what we need to draw from it—we might be sitting on our hands when we need them to reach out. The call is urgent: if we find ourselves in a dry, desert season of life, we must cry out to be taken to the water, where we will find the filling, feeding, and fortifying that only Jesus can provide.
